Kreinik Manufacturing Company, a family-owned thread business founded by Jerry and Estelle Kreinik in the early 1970s, grew from their home into an internationally known maker of silk and metallic threads based in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Built on Estelle’s design expertise and Jerry’s engineering innovation, the company helped expand modern needlework materials through organizers, drapable canvas, silk imports, and affordable metallic braids and ribbons. Over 50 years, Kreinik threads have been used in needlework, crafts, fashion, film, costume design, education, and fly fishing around the world. In April 2024, the Kreinik line was sold to Rainbow Gallery in California as the owners prepared to retire, with plans for production to resume after the transition while maintaining the company’s creative legacy.
